What do you believe in?

Well?

Let's hear it ...

  1. I am working through the ever famous path of self discovery and it has many twists and turns. Today it's religion. Actually, recently in general.

I don't know what to believe in. I have always stood by Atheism. Maybe it was because I was just unsure if my mom was right or not. Maybe it was because I really did think that there was something out there but that the church has it all wrong. And I still think they do. But do they have it allll wrong? I have a LOT of objections when it comes to what the bible stands for and what it means and if it's even true. It could be just a bunch of babble. Some dude high off his rocker, making up these rules like he IS God, if there is one. Who are we to believe these stories? Sure, they're nice but can't you read between the lines? Yes, I am admitting that there is a God but I am also admitting that I think we treat God in a completely different manner than we're supposed to. The church is such a hateful band of "followers" and don't tell me they're not when they're marching up and down streets telling us to burn the homosexuals and that abortion is abominable. Well, anyway ... what I'm really trying to say is that I think there is something out there but I'm not sure what it is yet I'm still on the fence as to if we're just nuts. Thinking there's this big man sitting on the moon, looking down at us, making us homeless, giving us money, being the reason for our good days as well as our bad days. What happened to free will?

Now I want to hear your ideas. Please comment.

  2. I don't understand the point on fighting against other religions. How does anyone know who is right and who is wrong? The only people who know are dead and can't tell anyone how it is in the afterlife...if there even is one. I don't really think believing in any specific thing gives people strength...it's more so just having something to believe in. Everyone has the right as a human being to believe in whatever the hell they want; whether it be one god or fifty. But until people can let people believe in what they want to believe in, humanity will continue to rip eachother to shreds. "The Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad has made the world ugly and bad." -Nietzsche

  3. Okay so before you automatically write me off as some bible thumping freak, hear me out. And know that I've changed ALOT in the past years since I've spent time with you. With that being said, it'd be stupid to think that there isn't anything else out there. Historically speaking, since the first civilization, there's been a belief in a higher power. It's selfish to think that us humans are the most intelligent creatures in this expansive universe. Now as for the whole "if there is really a good God, why does he kill people?" state of mind, I'm all about the blame us mentality. Let me explain... as much as we think people are "good" and innocent, we're not. And for those of you who are, (innocent, that is,) shit happens. It does. Bad stuff happens to good people so that they can improve, make themselves better. The whole point of life, I feel, is to improve. What would be the sense in living a mediocre life where nothing goes wrong? We have the choice to change us, and incase you haven't noticed, you are the only thing in this world that you can control. We have the free will to take each situation and decide what we want to do with it. For instance, a loved one dies, do we mourn with dignity and remember that person as they were alive, trying to exemplify their best, strongest qualities? Or do we simply allow ourselves to be consumed with grief, hindering ourselves from advancing and thriving in life? I don't know, the rest is up to you. God is out there though. It's up to you to find him.

  4. I believe in 1 God, the Father, the Almighty. He is the alpha and the omega. I believe God created the universe, right down to the amoeba! What an awe-inspiring creator!!! Reflect upon nature for just a moment; the changing of the seasons, the life cycles of all living matter. Look at the heavens, the stars, the cosmos - Dang, I don't know about you, but it blows my mind!! ... God says that we are made in His image and likeness. Now, this also will blow my neurons into the heavenly masses! If this is so, we have infinite powers; Powers we aren't even aware of. We humans certainly haven't even begun to comprehend or create our own greatness. We have not yet fully evolved. But can you just imagine for a fraction of a second all that we are possibly capable of?! Faith is strong. Hope is alive. But, Love is the greatest of all. Meditate on that. Think of the possibilities. Allow the universe to flow through you. It's amazing, and wonderful! Faith, the unseen yet felt, and known by the soul or your mind's eye, will flourish with delight and strength if only given a tiny ounce of thought. ... You are beginning to ponder things that will open your heart. God is good, and loves you more than you or I are ever capable of understanding. ... and, guess what?! Your mom loves you too. :)
